This lot comes from the Rwenzori Mountains in western Uganda, a region where sourcing high-quality natural coffee is quite challenging. Competition for cherries is intense, and many DRUGAR coffees arrive with high moisture, insect damage, or mixed ripeness.

Norman has spent years building trust with farmers in the area, and more recently he has focused on training a group of larger growers in better harvesting and home-processing techniques.

The Coffee Gardens buys semi-dry cherries in their pods at around 14.5% moisture, then transports them 12 hours to the Naturals Yard in eastern Uganda. There, the lots are carefully dried down to 11% moisture before being milled, colour-sorted, analysed, and prepared for export.
